LOOK engineers and carbon experts worked tirelessly on this track bike project, focusing on the combined athlete and bike interaction, to set new performance standard on the track.

Since LOOK’s beginnings in the world of cycling, at a time when metal was king , the material of choice for the French manufacturer has always been carbon. For over 30 years, LOOK has developed, within its own factories, a unique expertise in the use of carbon fiber and composite materials to build high-performance products.
In parallel to designing the optimal shapes LOOK engineers refine the carbon lay-up for each component area of the bike in order to achieve the original goal: an unprecedented nexus of aerodynamism, lightness, rigidity, and superb traction.
The carbon lay-up is key: it is about selecting the right fibers for each area of the frame, their orientation and their thickness (number of plies) as well as the application of reinforcements where necessary. The bottom bracket area, for example, absorbs higher forces than the head tube. The same principles are applied to each part of the frame and fork, and this attention to detail is one aspect in which LOOK’s expertise and manufacturing capability make a huge difference.
LOOK imagined, designed, prototyped, tested and produced the T20 in their workshops in Nevers, France. The T20 was born from a cutting-edge development process implemented to create the most advanced performance bike we have ever produced.

Of all Olympic cycling disciplines - road, TT, track, MTB, BMX - track bikes are the ones that will record the highest average speeds of all the bikes ridden during the Olympic Games.
At LOOK, engineers work to achieve a perfect fit between bike and athlete to ensure a power transfer as close as possible to 100%. Engineers work with athletes to optimize every element of the performance employing a variety of cutting edge methods, including analysis of previous prototypes on the track and in wind tunnels, testing and confirming all design iterations in CFD, and additional testing at one of the most advanced wind tunnel centers available.
We can help them by improving the aerodynamic element of the performance equation, and this is what we aim for with every new track product. We use all the tools at our disposal: from analyzing the performance of earlier products on the track and in the wind tunnel, to hours of testing all our design iterations in CFD, to confirming these CFD results and learning more in one of the leading wind tunnels in the industry.
4 years of research and development
Leaving no stone unturned, LOOK worked closely with the high-end carbon wheel experts at CORIMA to ensure that the brand’s 4-spoke and 5-spoke wheels, as well as the Paracular and Lenticular monobloc wheels, optimize the T20’s aerodynamic profile.
Additionally LOOK and CORIMA partnered to design front and rear thru-axle dropouts that ensure maximum rigidity and aerodynamic performance.
The cockpit has been designed to work perfectly with LOOK’s super-rigid track handlebar for sprinters, Madison and scratch race riders, while pursuit riders will benefit from the seamless integration with new LOOK’s AEROFLAT bars and AERGO extensions.
800 Grams lighter than R96
The impressive power output of a track athlete requires bikes of a different kind, able to transfer the full power on the wooden track. This is what track bikes are created for, and LOOK’s expertise in this area is unmatched.
LOOK provides track athletes with the tools to perform at the highest level by achieving maximum stiffness necessary for high speeds on the smoothest of cycling surfaces, the wooden track.
Aerodynamics and stiffness are critical, yet we must never forget that many track races are won from a standing start. This is why stiffness-to-weight ratio is a primary concern of both LOOK and athletes. It is of the utmost importance at every stage of development; from the design of the parts and the production processes, the laying up of each carbon element, a work of art that can impact the bike’s weight by a mere few grams.
The complete bike, fitted with French Made winning Corima rear-disc wheel and a 5-spoke front wheel meets the UCI minimum weight of 6,8kg, unmatched in the track.
Originally developed for the London Olympic Games, the improved ZED track monobloc crankset remains unrivalled as the lightest and stiffest track crankset on the market.
The only crankset that features extensive crank arm length adjustability thanks to the patented Trilobe concept, its one-piece construction enables maximum power transfer and efficiency.
UP TO 200% STIFFER THAN ANY OTHER CRANKSET
LOOK introduced thru axles on the front wheel for the R96 before the Rio Olympic Games. The goal was to improve torsional stiffness on the front of the bike while reducing weight and improving aerodynamics, achieved by removing all the surface area (the « A » of the « CdA ») of the nuts used to tighten the front wheel.
The next step was to provide the same benefits to the rear of the bike; we succeeded with the T20, and went even further. LOOK developed a thru axle for the rear wheel that offers the slickest design ever seen on a track bike rear dropout. Better still, it structurally helps to stiffen the rear dropouts, areas which are “open” and thus benefit greatly from the added stiffness.
Torsional stiffness of the rear triangle globally improved thanks to the Thru Axle, further adding to the gains already made with the new materials and processes.
The T20 does not require cutting the frame in order to adjust the saddle height. It is now the seat post that has to be cut (and can be easily replaced if necessary) and can then be adjusted with up to 15mm of spacers under neath.
The SPEED version is delivered with LOOK's TRACK HANDLEBAR.
The TT version is delivered with LOOK's AEROFLAT TT HANDLEBAR with AERGO EXTENSIONS which are also in a class of their own when it comes to aerodynamics and adjustability.
Yes, aerodynamics matter when you are sprinting at 70 km/h! So, each new Olympiad brings on a frantic race to develop the new standards which will lead to victory, leads to hours spent shaping new frames or integrating new components on the bikes.
From this point of view, using straps on pedals seems in a way prehistoric, far from what the science of aerodynamics suggests.
LOOK decided to design a new pedal standard offering the best of a LOOK KEO BLADE CARBON pedal, completed with the feeling of immovable security that a strap can procure. The new BLADE CARBON CERAMIC TRACK EDITION features a new control roller below the blade which limits the buckling and consequently the pedal lever opening. Regardless of the level of traction produced by the rider, the feet stay firmly attached to the pedals.
When the control roller is opened, the pedal works like a standard pedal; when it is closed, feet are fixed to the pedal. In the event of a fall, and contrary to when using a strap, the rider’s feet can be releases, which is a clear advantage in terms of safety. This smart solution hidden below the pedal reduces the pedal/feet frontal surface and results in improved aerodynamic performance.
The total weight is also drastically reduced by 15% compared to pedals with straps.
