Legal Warranty Policy

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Thank you for choosing a LOOK product. Our equipment is carefully designed to provide a high-performance, durable, and safe cycling experience. To fully enjoy your bike, we invite you to read the following information.

Maximum weight and familiarization

Our products are optimized for cyclists weighing no more than 100 kg (220.5 lbs).

Before riding, take the time to familiarize yourself with your pedals:

  • Practice clipping in and out while stationary;
  • Get used to anticipating this movement at every stop or in any situation requiring you to put a foot on the ground.

Good control of your pedals is essential for a smooth and safe experience.

WARNING — For your safety and that of others, immediately replace the handlebar and stem in case of shock or impact. These components play a key role in the safety and stability of your bike and must never be neglected.

LEGAL WARRANTY

Duration and scope

LOOK, through its authorized agents and distributors, guarantees its products against defects in conformity for a period of two years from the date of delivery of the goods to the consumer, in accordance with Articles L.217-3 to L.217-20 of the French Consumer Code.

In France, the consumer also benefits from the warranty against hidden defects provided for in Articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code, which may be invoked independently of the legal conformity warranty.

The duration of the legal conformity warranty is set at two years under French law. European Directive 2019/771 imposes a minimum of two years across the European Union, but some Member States provide for longer periods. The applicable duration is that of the legislation of the country in which the product was purchased.

Extension and suspension in case of repair or replacement

Any product repaired under the legal conformity warranty benefits from an automatic six-month extension of this warranty (Art. L.217-13 of the French Consumer Code).

The remaining warranty period is also suspended during the entire period in which the product is immobilized for repair, starting from the consumer's request for intervention or from when the product is made available, whichever is more favorable to the consumer (Art. L.217-28 of the French Consumer Code).

In the event of replacement of the product, a new full two-year legal conformity warranty period begins from the delivery of the replacement product.

Coverage

The legal warranty applies if the product has been:

  • assembled in accordance with the instructions provided by an authorized LOOK dealer or directly by LOOK;
  • maintained according to LOOK recommendations;
  • and used under normal conditions.

The warranty does not cover:

  • normal wear and tear of components*;
  • parts that have been improperly refurbished or modified;
  • prototype products and sponsored products;
  • damage resulting from an accident, misuse, or lack of maintenance.

Uses considered inappropriate include, in particular, jumping, acrobatics, extreme cycling, and any activity not intended for the model concerned. Prolonged use of a home trainer may also damage the rear triangle of the bike.

(*) Bearings (bottom bracket, headset, hubs), housings, cables, tires, tubulars, inner tubes, rim strips, brake pads, chain, chainrings, cassette, saddle.

Implementation of the warranty — Consumer rights

In the event of a lack of conformity observed within the warranty period, the consumer has the right to request that the goods be brought into conformity by choosing between repair and replacement (Art. L.217-9 of the French Consumer Code).

However, LOOK may direct toward the other option if the consumer’s choice results in a cost that is manifestly disproportionate compared to the alternative, taking into account the value of the goods, the significance of the defect, and the possibility of using the alternative without major inconvenience for the consumer. Any refusal to proceed according to the consumer’s choice must be justified in writing.

Compliance is carried out within a reasonable time not exceeding thirty days following the consumer’s request, and at no cost to the consumer. Costs of removal, return, shipping, and reinstallation are borne by LOOK.

If repair or replacement proves impossible, or if compliance is not achieved within thirty days, the consumer is entitled to a price reduction or termination of the contract (Art. L.217-14 of the French Consumer Code). Reimbursement is made no later than fourteen days following receipt of the goods or proof of their return.

These provisions are without prejudice to the award of damages.

Transferability of the warranty

In the event of a transfer of ownership of the goods between consumers, whether for consideration or free of charge, the subsequent purchaser benefits from the rights acquired by the initial purchaser under the legal conformity warranty vis-à-vis the professional seller, and, where applicable, under the commercial warranty vis-à-vis the guarantor (Art. L.217-29 of the French Consumer Code).

As regards the LOOK+ program, it is reserved for the initial purchaser who has completed registration under the conditions provided by the program.

Exclusions

The warranty does not apply to products:

  • purchased from professional rental companies;
  • sold at auction by a non-professional.

It also becomes void if:

  • the product has undergone unauthorized technical or structural modification;
  • it has been repainted or repaired outside an authorized LOOK center;
  • it has been used with parts not authorized by LOOK;
  • or if its serial number has been removed, altered, or made illegible.

Components and parts not manufactured by LOOK installed on our bikes are covered by the warranties of their respective manufacturers. LOOK cannot be held responsible for defects affecting products not designed, manufactured, or distributed by it.

ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE TO THE BIKE

During transport or maintenance, never clamp the frame of your bike directly. Clamping systems (work stands, bike racks, etc.) can damage paint, crack, or crush the tubes.

  • For repairs, always secure the bike by the seatpost.
  • For transport, secure it by the wheels or the fork, never by the frame.

These precautions preserve the integrity of the frame and extend its lifespan.

LIFESPAN — WEAR — REQUIRED INSPECTION

The lifespan of LOOK components depends on several factors: your body type, your riding style, your conditions of use, and maintenance. Impacts, falls, improper or harsh use can affect the structure of components and reduce their lifespan. Some elements are subject to natural wear.

Have your bike regularly inspected by an authorized LOOK dealer to detect any cracks, deformation, fatigue, or wear.

In the event of deformation, signs of impact, cracks, or stress marks, even minor, immediately replace the affected component.

A worn or damaged component may compromise the safety of your bike. Inspection frequency depends on your usage; your LOOK dealer will be able to advise you.

Replacements must be carried out exclusively by an authorized LOOK dealer. The list of replaceable components is available from these dealers.

READ BEFORE USE

Cycling, and especially off-road riding, is a demanding activity. To minimize the risk of injury, adopt best practices:

  • Maintain and properly adjust your bike;
  • Always wear an approved helmet;
  • Respect traffic regulations and local laws;
  • Stay alert to traffic-related hazards.

If you ride at night, make sure you can see and be seen. Reflectors do not replace appropriate front and rear lighting. Wearing reflective clothing is strongly recommended (and sometimes mandatory depending on local legislation).

EXTENDING THE LIFE OF YOUR PRODUCT

A bicycle, like any mechanical object, has a limited lifespan if not properly maintained. Each part is subject to wear, stress, external conditions, and material aging.

Impacts, overloads, or repeated stress can cause invisible damage leading to serious failures. A bike involved in an accident or used in extreme conditions must always be inspected by a qualified professional mechanic before being ridden again.

Pay attention to:

  • any cracks, scratches, or color changes;
  • any unusual noise or different sensations, especially in high-stress areas (joints, forks, seatpost, bolts, headset, etc.).

Dynamic or aggressive riding increases stress on the bike and reduces its lifespan.

MAINTENANCE

Have your bike serviced by a qualified professional. Your authorized LOOK dealer remains your best partner for maintenance and safety. The more intensive your use, the more frequent inspections should be.

Refer to your bike’s user manual for recommended procedures and intervals.

Never ride with a broken or damaged component. A broken spoke, for example, can cause a chain reaction of wear on other parts and lead to sudden failure. Have any damaged part repaired or replaced immediately.

Regular inspection and maintenance are essential for your safety and to extend the lifespan of your bike.

A poorly maintained bike can lead to a serious accident (injuries, paralysis, or even death).

MANDATORY CHECK-UPS

After the first 500 kilometers, present your bike to an authorized LOOK dealer for a full inspection. This visit allows adjustments to ensure safety, performance, and durability.

To ensure the reliability of your bike, regularly check:

  • Tightening of the stem on the fork and handlebar;
  • Tightening of bottle cages;
  • Tightening of chainrings;
  • Tightening of brakes;
  • Tightening of the rear derailleur hanger;
  • Tightening of derailleurs;
  • Tightening of the saddle on the seatpost;
  • Tightening of the seatpost on the frame;
  • Tightening of brake elements (pads, holders, and calipers);
  • Tightening of pedals on crank arms;
  • Condition of housings and cables/hoses of brake and derailleur systems;
  • Absence of play in the headset and bottom bracket;
  • Drivetrain system (chainrings, cassette, chain);
  • Condition of wheels (trueness, braking surface, quick release);
  • Condition/wear of braking elements (pads/discs);
  • Condition and wear of tires/tubulars;
  • Tire inflation according to recommended pressure.

SPARE PARTS

Spare parts are available through our network of authorized LOOK dealers during the product’s marketing period, and for a minimum duration from the end of marketing by LOOK:

  • 5 years for electric bikes (in accordance with French Decree No. 2023-293 of April 19, 2023);
  • 7 years for non-electric bikes (LOOK commitment).

COUNTERFEITING

WARNING ABOUT COUNTERFEIT PRODUCTS

The use of counterfeit products is very dangerous and can cause serious falls resulting in severe injury or even death.

LOOK products are protected by industrial property rights. In the event of purchase, use, or sale of a counterfeit product, LOOK reserves the right to take all appropriate measures to stop the infringement of its rights and obtain compensation for damages suffered, in accordance with Articles L.613-3 to L.613-6, L.615-14 and L.716-9 of the French Intellectual Property Code.

Counterfeit products do not benefit from any LOOK warranty. The use of counterfeit components on a compliant LOOK product may result in refusal of warranty coverage for any damage directly attributable to these counterfeit components.

To avoid fraud:

  • Be wary of websites offering LOOK products at abnormally low prices;
  • Do not purchase products without an invoice or maintenance traceability;
  • Avoid private sales without proof of origin.

If in doubt, contact us via our official website or that of your country’s distributor, providing the serial number and/or photos for verification.
