Paul Voss Wins Cinturó Ciclista de l'Empordà

Paul Voss Wins Cinturó Ciclista de l'Empordà

Paul Voss and Endura Racing sealed victory on Sunday in the Cinturó Ciclista de l'Empordà, a three day, UCI 2.2, stage race held in the Figueres area of Catalonia, Spain.

Voss won the opening stage on Friday from Julien Antomarchi (La Pomme Marseille) and Niels Vandyck (Jong Vlaanderen - Bauknecht), outsprinting the three man move who jumped clear late in the stage from a larger breakaway, which also included Rob Partridge and Dave Clarke.

Two days of strong riding from the team, who took charge of the peloton on both days delivered Paul to a victory in a season marred by injuries sustained in crashes at the Zolder Cyclocross World Cup in January and Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali in March. Endura Racing also claimed the Team Classification.

Paul Voss:
That was an amazing three days. We had a plan before the race and the plan was working. I knew that I had good legs, so I was going to Spain with the aim to win a stage and that happened. I'm really happy with that!
After that disappointing year with my two broken bones, that the point that switched the button in my head and to show that I can win races.
But without a strong team on my side that would not be possible. I'm really proud to be a part of the group. The team were working 100% for me and they gave 200% to defend the jersey. And that gave me the confidence to win the GC.

Jack Bauer:
Today was a real good team effort with the boys responding to whatever was thrown at them. Disappointing not to come away with the stage as we got caught up in a tangle in the finale but Voss kept his cool and the yellow which is what is important.

Iker Camaño:
It's been a good weekend for us, all the riders have made a fantastic job during the race and finally we could win the race. It's fantastic end the year wining [the race] and fantastic for us because today we won the team GC also.
Big congratulations to Paul for his victory and to the team for the great job!
