795 BLADE RS
BORN TO RACE

"THE NEW FRONTIER OF PERFORMANCE"

New records

More technology. Improved Aerodynamics.

The 795 BLADE RS is already considered as one of the best high end road racing bike, and is a firm favorite amongst competitive riders. The upgraded 2021 version retains 100% of the high performance characteristics whilst considerably reducing weight. The result is an exceptionally stiff and reactive ride, with a frame weighing in at a full 300g less than previous models.

Saving so much weight without compromising handling and aerodynamic performance can only be achieved by adjusting two all-important parameters: an even-higher performance carbon layup and a new manufacturing process: EPS. These two combined give the 795 BLADE RS all the qualities it requires to be the fastest, most comfortable and most versatile bike LOOK has ever designed.

New manufacturing processes for a new carbon composition

An aero frame that weighs just 1kg

Thanks to even higher modulus fibers, the proportion of carbon fibers is quite simply doubled (from 32% to 63%), tube stiffness is reached more rapidly and the number of layers can be reduced. This means that tube thickness, and by extension their weight, is greatly reduced. Ultra high modulus (UHM) fibers are added up to 4% in the most strategic areas to ensure optimal stiffness. The result is an ultra lightweight and exceptionally strong aero frame.

The disc brake decision

The updated 795 BLADE RS incorporates all the latest innovations to reach new levels of performance. Disc brakes are one of these innovations: they ensure more powerful, more progressive braking in both wet and dry road conditions. This makes for a greater sense of security and control on downhills and through corners, allowing the rider to brake later and carry speed further.

The second advantage of disc brakes is the option of mounting wider rims and tires. The 795 BLADE RS accepts tires with a section up to 700x30. The benefits of a tire holding a greater volume of air are double: the tire and rim are more aerodynamic, and tire pressure is reduced. In other words, the greater the tire section, the lower the pressure.

Contrary to popular belief, riding with lower air pressure increases the bike's efficiency: the tire absorbs the roughness of the road surface and in doing so helps to maintain speed. Riding at lower pressure also increases the contact area between the tire and the ground, which significantly improves traction. This is true on dry roads, and becomes an even more important factor when the going gets wet.

Carbon Core

DESIGNED & MANUFACTURED BY LOOK

Since LOOK’s beginnings in the cycling world, at a time when metal was king, our material of choice has always been carbon. For over 30 years, we have developed - within our own factories - a unique expertise and an extensive know-how in carbon fiber technologies to achieve highly-specific and performance-oriented properties.

Technologies

New EPS manufacturing process

The new EPS (Extended Polystyrene) technology is used to obtain premium, ultralight products. More costly than the traditional process, it is only used for our highest performance bike models. Rather than having one single mold for each frame size, this method requires two: one for the outer shape of the frame and one for the inner. The EPS process consists of draping the layer of carbon fiber fabric over a hard polystyrene form, which is then removed. The high tech molding process avoids any folds, porosities and areas of weakness in the carbon.

This makes the 795 BLADE RS one of the lightest high performance, aerodynamic bikes on the market. The complete bike even comes in at 420 grams lighter than previously thanks to the adoption of a new AEROPOST 3 seatpost.

3S Technology

The seatstays of the 795 BLADE RS are designed for maximum efficiency. The absence of bridge between them and their curved shape allows them to flex under the force transmitted by the rear hub. The rear wheel never loses contact with the road, ensuring optimal power transfer and increased traction and control.

Bottom Bracket

The 795 BLADE RS bottom bracket is built to pressfit BB386 standards, compatible with both 24mm axles (SHIMANO, SRAM GXP) and 30 mm axles (FSA 386 EVO, ROTOR, most SRAM 30mm cranksets). An aluminium sleeve fitted inside the frame ensures a perfect alignment of the bottom bracket and optimised pressfit tolerances.

The 795 BLADE RS frameset-only options are not delivered with the Token Ninja BB386 bottom bracket. This is available as a spare part (different models depending on the the crankset used).

Each fully-built 795 BLADE RS comes with a TOKEN NINJA BB386 threaded bottom bracket installed and dedicated tools. The threaded body of the TOKEN PRODUCTS Ninja bottom bracket is made of aluminum whilst the pressfit areas are made from a combination of PA+FIBRE. This setup ensures the bottom bracket is robust, perfectly aligned and spins smoothly without friction. It is designed as a comprehensive, high-performance unit that offers riders the fastest, quietest and most reliable components possible.

Easy cable routing

The 795 BLADE RS is designed with cable integration and easy maintenance in mind. Both the rim and disc brake framesets are compatible with mechanical or electronic groupsets.

The derailleur cables are routed through the stem and headset on both versions. The rim brake version offers cable routing from the handlebar to the front brake caliper (front brake) and to the to top tube (rear brake), the main goal being to keep brake efficiency high and maintenance easy. On the disc brake version, brake housings are combined with the derailleur cables and routed through stem and headset for an extremely tidy front end and optimised aerodynamics. Stem height adjustment is made easy thanks to spacers with specific cable routing openings in the rear.

"Already very much at ease at high speeds and in sprints, this new version of the 795 BLADE RS is also a formidable weapon when the road kicks upward."
