2017 TOUR DE FRANCE, The victories, excitement and so much promise for LOOK athletes to come

26/07/2017

Very determined and present in numerous breakaways, performances that often ended with a great result at the end of the stage, the riders of Team Fortuneo-Oscaro just completed their best Tour de France riding the 795 LIGHT and 785 HUEZ RS. The French squad finished 8th place in the overall team rankings, and a 16th place in the individual classification went to Brice Feillu. The accolades continue with the magnificent performance of the youngest rider in the Tour, Elie Gesbert (7th in Salon de Provence), and the repeated attacks by Romain Hardy, Maxime Bouet, Florian Vachon and Pierre -Luc Périchon, who finished (8th) on the Champs-Elysees.

The greatest cycling race on the planet was also the ideal occasion to launch our innovative 785 HUEZ RS in the thick of the action. Brice Feillu and his teammates demonstrated throughout the competition that this new model has the stuff to shine in the most beautiful event on the calendar.

Our KEO BLADE CARBON pedals were heralded with stage victories by Romain Bardet, Lilian Calmejane and Fabio Aru, as well as the many other Tour teams that chose the French technology. Designed, developed and engineered in our Nevers manufacturing facility, images of the pedals decorated to match the Yellow Jersey, and the Polka-Dot Jersey presented to Fabio Aru, were seen around the world!

Take a look back on not only the victories, but also the many highlights provided to us by our LOOK athletes during this 2017 Tour de France!

Brice Feillu
// 16th with the new 785 HUEZ RS

Launched late June at Alpe d’Huez, the 785 Huez RS made its debut in the 2017 Tour de France. It didn’t take long for it to become Brice Feillu’s bicycle of choice:

« I find it very versatile and feel good riding it. Even on the flat stages, I love riding this bicycle… »
Repeatedly at the front on mountain stages, the leader of Team Fortuneo-Oscaro finished 16th in the overall:
« I dreamed of a stage win, and I have the feeling that I came pretty close. Despite everything, I’m satisfied my form during this Tour. »

Victory should come quickly for the leader of the French team.

The entire Team Fortuneo-Oscaro has been hard at work for three weeks. Pierre-Luc Perrichon, Maxime Bouet, Romain Hardy and Florian Vachon all tried their luck in breakaways. Emmanuel Hubert’s squad finished in 8th place overall and 1st among the Continental teams. Congratulations to them all!

Elie Gesbert // The brilliant rookie

Elie Gesbert, the youngest rider in the Tour de France, celebrated his twenty-second birthday in Düsseldorf, on July 1st, during the frenzy of the opening stage time trial. Three weeks later, the young man who had never previously raced more than seven consecutive days, just completed his first Tour de France.

Voted the most combative rider of stage 10, the youngest rider in the Tour flirted with victory on stage 19 that finished in Salon de Provence:

« It was an amazing experience! There are inevitably rough patches during an event like the Tour, but I had a tremendous amount of help and received some really great advice. I got the chills when we crossed the finish line on the Champs – Elysées. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished. »

The young Frenchman could quickly become the subject of conversation once again!

THE VICTORIES
// LOOK athletes took home three victories with their KEO BLADE CARBON pedals:

Fabio Aru (Astana)

Fabio ARU (Astana)

The Sardinian gave the KEO BLADE CARBON its first victory in this Tour de France by winning stage 5 from Vittel to the Planche de Belles Filles. He doubled the pleasure by pulling the KOM jersey over his shoulders and receiving a special pair of matching Polka-Dot pedals!

Lilian CALMEJANE (Direct Energie)

In his first Tour de France, the Direct Energy rider pulled off a massive win on the stage from Dole to the Station des Rousses. Less than one year after his victory in the Vuelta, he confirms his huge potential.

Romain BARDET (AG2R La Mondiale)

As in 2015 and 2016, Romain Bardet treated himself to the luxury of a stage win in the Tour de France. The leader of Team AG2R LA MONDIALE, raised his arms in victory at the finish of stage 12 from Pau to Peyragudes.

Second last year, Romain Bardet wrote himself into cycling history by earning a new podium with his 3rd place finish.

It’s been twenty years since a Frenchman has achieved two consecutive podiums.
At 26 years of age, the Frenchman, who has ridden with KEO BLADE CARBON pedals since his professional debut in 2012, may not be too far away from victory in the Tour de France general classification.

The teams Fortuneo-Oscaro, Cofidis Solutions Crédit, Direct Energie, Wanty Groupe Gobert, Lotto Soudal, UAE Emirates, Astana, Movistar and AG2R LA MONDIALE have all chosen KEO BLADE CARBON pedals.

For three weeks, the entire LOOK family shared in the magnificent adventure as they trembled with anticipation and excitement during each achievement and every breakaway.

A big « bravo » and our sincere congratulations go to all our teams and athletes who have chosen LOOK on this 2017 Tour de France.
