A feat for Samuel Gaze and the X-TRACK !
At 22 years of age, the New Zealander made Mountain-Bike history during the first World Cup event this weekend in Stellenbosch (South Africa). In addition to being the inaugural athlete from his country to win at this level, he is also the rider who put an end to the invincibility of Nino Schurter, who went undefeated last season.
Gaze, a two-time U23 World Champion, started riding X-TRACK pedals at the end of last season.
Gaze’s success is complemented by the 3rd place of the French National Champion, Maxime Marotte, who also rides the X-TRACK !
For Gaze, it is “A dream come true. I grew up watching the sport and idolized guys like Schurter! I had cramps on the last lap, but I made sure not to show it and manage to push myself in the sprint! You always hope to bring home the big win, and when it becomes reality, it’s huge!”
Gaze will defend his place as World Cup leader May 18th to 20th in Albstadt, Germany
