• ULTRA MAX VHM CARBON TUBESET
The 496 TRACK platform was developed to match the strict requirements of the World Class Athletes of the French Federation. Look impressively captured 12 medals during the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens: France, China, Japan, Germany, Canada. The Ultra Max VHM Carbon tubeset is reserved specifically for the TT and TRACK framesets. Utilizing this very high tech blend and lay up, Look can focus on building the utmost stiffness (zero flex) into the frame for speed and responsiveness. The result is the most efficient frame to handle the power and torque of World Class track racing.
• ‘MONOBLOC’ CONSTRUCTION
The bottom bracket is the heart of the frame. In order to maximize pedaling efficency, the 496 TRACK is constructed using the monobloc process. A specifically shaped oversized rear triangle results in optimal responsiveness. This method of construction results in a perfect transmission of power between the bottom bracket and the wheel.
• OFFSET AERODYNAMIC MONOBLADE FORK
The Look Monoblade fork was the first of its kind. Originally developed in the 1990’s, the fork was designed to improve lateral rigidity as well as slice through the wind. The aerodynamics of the 496 TRACK were tested in the wind tunnel at the Formula 1 Center in Nevers Magny-Cours. The revised design of the 496 has been improved by 2% over the previous generations. The basic result is 60 hundredths of a second per kilometer of time savings, thanks in part to the extremely low drag coefficient of the fork.
• The ZED Track single-piece carbon cransket
LOOK now produces a road version of its already famous ZED 2 cransket. The first 100% single-piece carbon cransket for the track, it is the lightest one in this discipline: only 420gr.
Its light weight conceals formidable rigidity; the carbon composition was reviewed to optimise the rigidity and the pedalling efficiency. The design was rethought for better penetration of the air.
Equipped with the three-lobe technology, it allows obtaining several pedal crank lengths by turning a nut (Size 1 : 165 / 167.5 / 170 mm - Size 2 : 172.5 / 175 / 177.5mm). It fits into a BB65 for still more aerodynamic properties and rigidity.
• ULTIMATE STIFFNESS
Rear triangle : 160 Nm, Bottom Bracket: 220 Nm, Head Tube : 125 Nm. Other parts of the frame are two times stiffer than a road frame.
• HANDMADE: 50 HOURS
It requires no less than 50 hours to hand build this frame from scratch in our own factories.
• DEVELOPED WITH THE FFC
The LOOK 496 TRACK and TT was developed in collaboration between LOOK and the FFC (Fédération Française de Cyclisme). Together we accomplished building not only a more aerodynamic frame and fork than the previous generation 396, but also a frameset that is 400 grams lighter as well. This is the stiffest Track and TT Frame available.
