Cycling is just as a lifestyle for them as it’s for Look. Our partnerships with our athletes are symbiotic in way to strive and achieve the best.
Cofidis
The northern structure was one of the most active on the transfer market, taking on no less than nine riders. Impressive recruiting! Christophe Le Mevel, 10th in the Tour de France in 2009, Jérôme Coppel who won the Vuelta a Murcia in 2011, and Spanish Dani Navarro will share the poster on the Grand Tours, accompanied by the Estonian Rein Taaramae. But they can also count on Adrien Petit, 3rd in the last French Championships, and who has one of the best bursts of speed in the team. Newcomer Romain Hardy should also be followed, winner of the first stage of the Tour du Haut Var last year... With the end of David Moncoutié's career, the symbol of the team since its creation in 1997, Cofidis is starting a new era! Cofidis will ride again this year on the top of the range LOOK frame, the 695 SR, which integrates several global innovations. The 596 will still be used for time trials, on which the riders will also use Keo Blade Aero, the very first pedals exclusively dedicated to time trials. Saxo Tinkoff (UWT)
Absent from the Tour de France, Alberto Contador was majestic on the slopes of the Vuelta, winning the Tour of his home country for a second time after 2008. This year, the Danish group has chosen to trust Keo Blade and Keo Blade Aero pedals by LOOK. To help the Pistolero de Pinto, Bjarne Riis has not cut any corners. Irishman Nicolas Roche, Czech Roman Kreuziger (former winner of the Tour de Suisse) and also Russian Evgeny Petro will form a close guard around the Iberian rider. The next Tour, which looks to be very mountainous, should suit Contador perfectly. Will Saxo Bank Tinkoff Bank drive their leader to success? The former winner of the Tour of Lombardy, Swiss Oliver Zaugg, or even the indefatigable rider Michael Morkov should also be followed. The most aggressive rider in the last Tour de France, Chris Anker Sorensen, should be in all combats in the World Tour. AG2R La Mondiale (UWT)
Despite a difficult season on a financial level (4 victories), the oldest French squad structure has seen some great moments. The promising debuts of Romain Bardet, the person behind a heroic trek on the Amstel Gold Race, and also the hefty victory by Sylvain Georges in the Tour of California will have marked the season of the Chambery team. For this year, Vincent Lavenu has changed more than a third of his group (11 departures). The man at the head of the team since its creation in 1992 has gained the signatures of Samuel Dumoulin (member of the group until 2007), and also the promising Colombian Carlos Betancur and also the Italian Domenico Pozzovivo (8th in the Giro). But the French team will also be able to rely on the bursts of speed of the Belarussian Yauheni Hutarovitch. And we must not forget the "frames" with Hubert Dupont, John Gadret, Jean-Christophe Peraud or even Christophe Riblon and Maxime Bouet. Last year, the Dutch confirmed their place among the elite starting on Paris - Nice with the second place overall for Lieuwe Westra. The thin climber had signed an incredible number to impose upon the heights of Mende. Two months later, it was Thomas De Gendt's turn to make sparks fly, climbing onto the final podium of the Giro in 3rd place. And this season? The arrival of Juan Antonio Flecha should enable the group to shine on the cobbles. A descendant of the Reynolds team, then Banesto de Miguel Indurain, the Movistar formation is coming out of a season where it will have been present throughout the year. The young Colombian Nairo Quintana, 22 years old, has exploded at the highest level by winning the Vuelta a Murcia, the Route du Sud and a stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné. Alejandro Valverde, former world number one, enlivened the January season, on the Tour Down Under, the Vuelta (2nd) and the World Championships (3rd). This season, the team will also be able to rely on Alex Dowsett, time trial champion of Great Britain and a newcomer to the team. Astana (UWT)
Sensational Olympic champion of the London streets, Alexandre Vinokourov is now the general manager of the Kazak group. A logical step for the former winner of the Vuelta (2006) who was in the team originally. After having skimmed over a part of the Ardennes Classics (the Amstel was won by Gasparotto and Liege Bastogne Liege by Iglinskiy) in 2012, Astana began recruiting, focusing resolutely on the Grand Tours, in particular by signing the Italian Vincenzo Nibali, 3rd in the last Tour de France. The "Shark of Messina" will be able to count on a solid army with Dane Jakob Fuglsang and Swede Fredrik Kessiakoff who was among the first climbers of the last Tour de France. The World Tour debuts of the transalpine gem Fabio Aru, and the native son, the Under-23 world champion, Alexey Lutsenko, should be followed closely. Definitively the queen of the classics! Last year, Tom Boonen became legendary when he won a second double Tour of Flanders - Paris Roubaix, but especially by equalling the old record by Roger de Vlaeminck with a 4th victory in The Hell of the North. The team also showed great collective strength by winning the first against-the-clock team world title with the Keo Blade Aero. The general manager Patrick Lefévère has in particular signed one of the largest transfers of the winter, hiring the 2011 world champion, British rider Mark Cavendish. With the German Tony Martin (against-the-clock double world champion), as well as Sylvain Chavanel, Omega Pharma Quick Step will be one of the attractions of the season once again. For its first year, Lotto Belisol has immediately established itself among the best squad formations. Since the Tour Down Under, the "Gorilla" André Greipel has let his bursts of speed do the talking! He came back particularly on the Tour de France, winning the prize money for three stages! On the Tour de France, the team was able to have confidence in their leader, Jürgen Van Den Brock, 4th in the final overall ranking. Since the great Eddy Merckx, Belgium has not seen a rider capable of shining on the Grand Tours. On the classics, Jelle Vanendert will be very eagerly awaited! The Belgian finished 2nd in the Amstel, 4th in the Fleche Wallonne and 10th at Liege. An incredible consistency which will end up paying off! Sojasun
Stéphane Heulot's team has come out of a great collective season with victory in the Europe Tour and 17 individual victories. Julien Simon (5 victories including 2 in the Tour of Catalunya) was one of the best riders in the group. With the departure of its leader, Jérôme Coppel, the former yellow jersey wearer of the Tour had to rebuild part of his team. He therefore trusted Rémy Pauriol, Julien El Farès, the Lithuanian Evaldas Siskevicius and also Alexis Vuillermoz, who came second in the Under-23 MTB World Championships. The Breton group has not lost sight of its training objectives by giving Maxime Daniel a chance, who arrives from the Sojasun Espoirs (Under-23) stock. Nothing happens by chance. And Jean-René Bernaudeau isn't going to tell you the opposite. In 1991, the man from the Vendée created Vendée U, an amateur team related to the Pôle espoirs de la Roche-Sur-Yon. Nine years later, the adventure was starting among the professionals with Bonjour. And since 2011, it has been the company Europcar that has ensured the durability of the team. Sébastien Turgot (2nd in Paris Roubaix) and Thomas Voeckler (best climber in the last Tour de France), former member of the Pôle are the witnesses of a system that works. During a fantastic Tour de France, particularly marked by a collective victory of Pierre Rolland at La Toussuire and the red polka jersey being won by Voeckler, Europcar set the month of July ablaze.
