• ULTRA MAX CARBON VHM TUBES
The 496 TT is the declination of the 496 Sydney track frame, which was the frame of dozens
of federations around the world. It is the ultimate in carbon technology. Thor Hushovd won the
prologue at the 2006 Tour de France on this bicycle. For this race, it wasn't necessary to
use a frame of less flexibility and comfort. The objective was to have a frame that could
support the most brutal accelerations and power.
• MONOCOQUE BB AND CHAINSTAYS CONNECTION
The monocoque construction of this frame guarantees the rigidity of this frame
especially around the bottom bracket. In the case of the 496, the bottom bracket
is sunk into the carbon. The additional rigidity is added by the way the
chainstays are connected to the to the BB. They are not only oversized
but in fact wrap around the circumference of the bottom bracket.
• OFFSET FORK FOR CX AND EXCEPTIONAL STABILITY
The fork offers a new design that again improves its lateral rigidity and the aerodynamic coefficient of the air around the bicycle.
The aerodynamics of the 496 have been measured at the Nevers Magny-Cours wind tunnel. The gain over the 396 fork is 2%. That is equivalent to
60 100ths of a second per kilometer.
• EXTREMELY RIGID
Rear triangle: 160 Nm, bottom bracket: 220 Nm, headtube: 125 Nm.
Certain sections of the frame are 2X stiffer than a classic road frame.
• 50 HOURS OF HAND FABRICATION
The fabrication of the 496 is 100% hand-built and requires 50 hours of fabrication.
• DEVELOPED WITH THE FRENCH CYCLING FEDERATION
The 496 was a colaboration between LOOK and the FFC.
The improvement in aerodynamics combined with a lighter frame and fork (400 grams lighter than the 396) creates a frame that performs significantly better.
