VACANSOLEIL-DCM (UWT)

Introduction

This Dutch professional team was created in 2005 under the leadership of Daan Luijkx, and became Continental Pro in 2009. Vacansoleil-DMC continues to climb up the ranks, achieving World Tour status in 2011.
Its 2011 season count included more than twenty victories, showing that this Dutch team certainly deserved their place among the world elite. One of the main participants in this success was Romain Feillu, who alone took three Mediterranean Tour stage victories, winning the Finistère and Picardy Tours. Another discovery during the year was Belgian Thomas de Gendt, winner of stages in the Paris-Nice and the Tour de Suisse.
Vacansoleil can count on these riders; they will be supported by new recruits such as Kenny Van Hummel and Stefan Denifl for the team to achieve their objectives in 2012. These objectives include being part of the Team General Classification Top 10, a stage victory in one of the Grand Tours, and a podium place in one of the Classics.
