LAURENT THIRIONET
This cycling runner of 41 is described as being “the world reference in wheelchair cycling”.
In 1999, he established the world record of the hour, with a race of 41.38 kilometres. In 1998, he won two bronze and two silver medals at the world wheelchair events. In 2007, he won the world championship of wheelchair cycling in track pursuit, and obtained a bronze medal in the kilometre event.
Taking part for the first time in the Para Olympic Games in 2000, he won a silver medal at the road racing event. The following years, he established world records for the hour and thee kilometre. At the Para Olympic games of 2004, he obtained gold in individual pursuit, silver in time trial on road and in the kilometre event, and bronze in team sprinting. At the 2008 games, he obtained gold in the time trial on road, with a time of 38 minutes 00 seconds 31.
