Absent from the first two stages of the World Cup, the German made a comeback that brought her back to the top of the racing scene. Saturday night, on the Frankfurt track, the Rio Olympic Champion set a new World Record in the 500 meters with the stratospheric time of 28”970. This is the first time that a woman has gone under the mythic 29 second barrier! For the occasion, Kristina was riding a LOOK R96 Speed with Corima DISC wheels. She should be one of the women to watch in the second half of the season where she will compete in Cali (Colombia), Los Angeles (USA) and the World Championships in Hong Kong.
For those that love statistics, LOOK athletes currently hold the following Word Records:
Men’s and women’s 200 meter flying start with François Pervis (9’’347) and Kristina Vogel (10’’384)
Women’s 500 meter flying start with Kristina Vogel (28’’970)
Women’s Team 500 meter standing start with the Chinese National Team (31’’928)
Men’s kilometer with François Pervis (56’’303)
